TREK Domane

Introducing the all-new Trek Domane

After weeks of speculation, Trek Bicycle unveiled the highly anticipated 2013 Domane, an all-new road racing platform that specifically addresses rider comfort, power transfer and stable handling over long courses with rough pavement, gravel, and cobblestones. Domane is a high-performance race bike that offers unparalleled rider comfort while retaining amazing power transfer thanks in part to a unique technology called IsoSpeed, which creates vertical compliance that is twice that of the nearest competition, without taking an ounce of power from the rider. This unparalleled vertical compliance also increases rear wheel traction over rough surfaces, ensuring that every pedal stroke contributes to greater forward acceleration, instead of bouncing off the cobbles or potholes. And Domane-specific Power Transfer Construction results in bottom bracket stiffness that even exceeds the Madone, the Domane’s stage racing compliment.

Round 1 Results- Seeonee Park

Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club's first race, despite the rain, was a great day.

Littered with M1 riders, the bet was on that the top 5 in elite will be from Gladstone / Boyne-Tannum. Boy, did we get close.

Lap 1 of the 4 lap race had the numbers split considerabley, with the top 4, Joel, Carter, Ray and Brad holding their positions for the entire race, finishing within minutes of eachother.

The track slowly became more and more unrideable, and by the 4th lap, ALL the short, sharp uphill sections were impossible to ride. The track had just become a mud bath.

Elite had Joel Robinson 1st, Chris Carter 2nd and Ray Rhodes 3rd.

Sport class had M1's newest Tasmanian, Brice Munting, taking out first place, followed by Craig Wise for 2nd and Dan Witten in 3rd.

Results and photo's can be found on the Rocky MTB facebook page, or just the results at http://rockymtb.org/results-2012/.

Congrats to the Rocky MTB Club crew for hosting such an awesome event. Hopefully a lot more numbers in the following races, wet or dry.

The 29er Revolution

The BIG wheel bus has hit Gladstone hard, and M1 Cycles has the worlds best two brands of 29ers in stock.

Whether its Cannondale, or Trek, hardtail or dually, we have it all here. With prices starting from $699.
The 29er's offer a bigger wheel diameter, bigger obstacle clearence, better rotational momentum and better traction than what is offered from a traditional 26" mountain bike. So it's almost like a road bike for dirt, so much faster, and a much more comfortable riding position..

The Silent Assassin + Reg's Mt Buller Adventure

Well done to Raymond, who completed the Mt Buller MTB festival in 1st place in vintage (50+, 27 riders) and 73rd overall (670 starters). Not to shabby for an old bloke Ray, well done!

Reg was in cruise mode for the event, took it easy, and come home with a great result in Veteran (40-49).

The Rabbit & The Hare, The Tortoise & The Turtle Ride

This mornings ride would have to be one of the chilliest summer mornings we have ever experienced! Kicking off from the bakery as usual, we had limited numbers then usual. Picking up Bushy, LG and Cat at the roundabout, we proceeded down the road to collect a few more.

As we headed into Calliope, we picked up the tannum boys, formerly known as the ex-triathletes. Craig, Mark, Dylan and a few others joined our pack to rack up a good 25 rider smash fest! Thanks for turning up guys.

Heading in towards the Kroombit tops road, the bunch lit up, upping the anti a few knotches. Numbers were deteriorating with every 200 metre turn. Holding on with every inch, Mark Ruthenberg would have had the most painful experience in a long time. No more C grade for you!

Buy the end of the road, only Bushy, LG, Grainfed and Dylan were still there, with everyone else turning around a few km's before hand.

Once again, the 40km Teams Time Trial was on to cath the 15 or so riders with the 5km advantage on us, JUST catching the bunch at the emmadale turnoff on Kirkwood road. What a smash!

In the end, the Turtles always prevail.

Just keep pedalling.

Tuesday Mornings Smash...

The title can not be further than the truth. The M1 bunch met as per usual, but with a quick "coffee shop call" at bell times, the bunch headed straight to Craigs Bakery for a quick brew, minus Sweeney and Snapper.
