Now I'm only new to the Garmin scene but, my Garmin "talks" to the node sensor in my Trek frame - so I don't have to have the extra sensor bits etc hanging off the frame (much better bling bling!!!). It also has a lighted display so even in the dark climbing hill circuits I can see how slow I'm going and how much my heart is hurting!!
