Colony BMX Follow the Lines Tour

Yesterday part of the Colony BMX Team came through the shop with the Follow the Lines Tour. On tour were riders, Clint Miller, Cooper Brownlee, Brandon Van Dulken, Tom Stretton, Mick Bayzand, Chris Courtenay, Jourdan Barba, Zac Miner and Jack Kelly.

About 10:15am we saw our first lot of locals line up for the 11am arrival of the Colony Team. By the time the Team arrived at 11am there was nearly 50 kids crammed into the store eager to meet there idols. The team ran a old school bunny hop comp out the front on the footpath too see who could hop the most bikes.

Shortly after the team and kids headed for the PCYC park where the kids mixed it up amongst the pros for the best session the Gladstone park has seen in a very long time; some big tricks were thrown down. The team then headed off to check out some popular street spots with some of the locals before they heading to Rockhampton for day 3 of the "Follow the lines tour".

The second million - 2,000,000+

Everybody's favourite MTB Coach, Coach Carter, has a little website called MTBTIPS; you might have heard of it, if not, do check it out.

Here he dishes out, well, MTB tips, and has been doing so for quite some time. Over the years we've seen the weird and wonderful, always informative and innovative.

We've just heard that MTB Tips has had over 2 million views on the MTBtips YouTube Channel. Congrats Coach and keep up the good work... May we all be just a bit better at riding mountain bikes because of you.

Di2 Diagnostic / Firm ware updates and Adjustments

For all your problems Di2 related, see the most advanced trained store in the whole CQ region, for second to none firmware updates and simple gear adjustments. With 2 trained and qualified bicycle trades persons instore at all times, there's no job too big or too small. From simple tube changes, gear adjustments to complete overhauls. M1 Cycles rates are not only reasonable, but affordable. For a professional service see none other than the professional bike shop in town.

"We don't just sell bikes, we don't just ride bikes, we fix bikes!"

For anyone who has a Di2 equipped bike, there is a current firmware update to enable the multi-shift feature; which means you can simultaneously change 2 or 3 gears at a time or even from one end of the cluster to another with the simple hold of the up or down shift button. You can adjust the speed of the 'multi-shift' from a slow speed to a faster speed shift for all your race winning gear changes. You can also alter the configuration of what buttons shift what gears. If you have a Di2 bike and wish to have the firmware checked for an update, or alter the configuration of the shifting buttons,  or enable the multi shift feature, simply bring your bike to M1Cycles and have it checked out by the most trained and up too speed Di2 technicians in CQ.

As our old friend Wade Morgan would say, "Come Out."

Updated....The Cobia - Ready to eat dirt.

Updated - 2013 Trek Cobia 29

So far here's our favourite bits:

  • The 3x10 close-ratio drivetrain. More gears, more often means it's more reliable of a wider variety of terrain. Makes drivetrain slightly longer lasting. Close ratios like this are appreciated up steeper climbs.
  • The G2 geometry solves the dreary steering issue of 29 inch wheels. Because the designers have done their homework on this, the Cobia  handles nimbly in tight, twisty singletrack. And yet high-speed stability; best of both worlds.
  •  There's a reason why the Treks 29ers handle better than any others; it's because you can ride them like a 26” bike. Thanks, Gary Fisher, the father of mountain biking.

Stay Tuned.... even more soon!!

GF pic
One of the best value 29ers on the current market. Considering it's heritage, and at $1299 rrp, and specced like it is, it is not hard to see why. So we're gonna ride it and tell you what we think.  In the meantime check it out on Trek's Website.

Speed Concept

Treks Speed Concept is best in class, not to mention the world fastest time trial bike and its easy to see why, Watch the below video where Linsey Corbin designs her very own project one Speed Concept with her personal touches. It never fails too amaze me with the amount professionalism and attention to detail this beautiful company excels in. There work is clean, accurate and has the most advanced technology, with features within the speed concept like KVF (kamtail virtual foil) a revolutionized tube shape which gives the bike not only a sleek looking design but greater speed and less aerodynamic drag making race day wins easier and effortless.  Trek Bicycles have a range of Time Trial / Triathlon bikes weather it be Tri specific or road trek cover it all too suit your budget check out there site today too learn more about the features speed concept has too offer and why you should consider the Speed Concept as your next dream ride.

The bike does make a difference, anyone who says it doesn't has a mindset of there own, comparing two riders with the same profile (weight, strength, etc.) it is the bike that separates one rider from another.

The Trail Makers

Coach Carter and his side kick Tom Thumb have been busy at work on the new track opposite the Rock Stairs near the BMX track.  The two new bridges are in along section one "Death Adder Valley" and below is a sneak peak of the extension that's still a work in progress....  The new track is pretty darn AWESOME - but a little technical in spots, just ask Smurfles about his little trip on the Lattice Bridge.

@the_bully: Surely someone has been "swooped" before. If you have been pecked or prodded by a Magpie in the Rocky region give Austin King a call at the Bully

The Love Is Ride

Ok you Mere Males in M1 Land, listen up.  Remember the little cartoons "Love is.....", well this morning's ride was a clear indication that Hef, Snapper and Mr Anderson all need to be reaquainted with the Love is theory.  Let me explain....

Mr Anderson.  Love is NOT.... 'deliberately stalking down your wife on Haddock Drive and passing her 10 metres before the top'.

Snapper.  Love is NOT.... 'catching your wife just before the railway line with about 500m to go before the coffee shoop'.

And Hef.  Love is DEFINATELY NOT..... 'sprinting against your wife as you come into the final corner 100m before the coffee shop to take victory for the boys'.

It's probably a good thing that LG wasn't on the ride this morning as I'm sure he would have been influenced by the other Mere Males in the pack!

And "Enforcer", you took Kitty Soft Paw Ride to a new low this morning when you turned on Jim Whyte and missed Haddock altogether.  Tsk Tsk.

The Trek Fuel EX5 - 25%

All right, all right, we hear you. We know some of you like to leave tracks behind, and were feeling left out with our Madone 5.9 special, so we thought we'd post a 'dirt' special for "Sale of the Century".
