Friday Freeride
It's Friday....right? How loose can you get on a mountain bike?
Don't try this at home, and if you do, wear an Australian Standards ( AS/NZS 2063:2008—Bicycle helmets) approved safety helmet.

This is how a World Championship victory starts....
Jason English was crowned (again) as WEMBO World 24hr Champion
This video is....inciteful, to say the least. Jason lets us into his world with full footage of his first lap around the course in Weaverville, California. This includes head-up display of riding stats, including power, and no dub over sound.
When you see wattages up near 500 you've got to remind yourself that this is just the beginning of 24 hours of tough riding....and Jason gets dropped.
Congratulations Jason English!!

Not 200, less than 100 days to the Cycle Epic....
Actually it's 199 98 days, so still 28 14 weeks to the start of the 2014 Flight Centre Active Travel Cycle Epic.
The New Cycle Epic Website is Live - Go and have a look and consider racing/riding one of the Australian Mountain Biking Icons.Time to start thinking about it at least, it needs a few training rides beforehand to get through the full distance. If you wanted to commit already, the entries are open for September 13-14 races.
If you need some inspiration, take a look at the video below, of the 2013 event, and if you look real hard you might see one or two riders from M1 Land slogging it out on the course.
This video is another high quality production from Dean Saffron. Check out his other videos, especially Spokesman
Flight Centre Active Travel Cycle Epic from dean saffron on Vimeo.
The award-winning Flight Centre Cycle Epic is a great mountain biking tradition that began in 2002 with a bunch of mates challenging themselves on a 117km epic trail ride. In 2003, the inaugural Australian mountain bike marathon started a new era in the sport.
Over the past 10 years, the EPIC has gone through multiple evolutions, most recently due to the 2011 floods which destroyed much of the track infrastructure. The track-building team have worked hard to develop extensive tracks of an international standard - creating rides that cater for different ages and skill levels.
The EPIC weekend has something for everyone, from the novice rider through to the professional, offering six races and several categories to challenge and reward riders.

The 4.5 Star MTB - Trek X-Caliber 7
It's the weekend...pop into the shop and pester the team about a Trek X-Caliber 7.
Just $899rrp
BikeRadar gives X-Caliber 7 four & half stars
"High quality build and proven handling at a modest price"
"The X-Caliber frame is no doubt the highlight of the package, made with Trek’s Alpha Gold aluminium. With heavily shaped and butted tubes, sparkling paint, an internally guided front derailleur cable and a fully housed rear derailleur cable, this frame would be befitting of bike twice its price."
Nothing beats the efficiency, simplicity, and straight-up fun of an X-Cal 29er hardtail. Great for XC racing, marathons, 24-hour racing, or simply shredding singletrack.

The Bontrager RXXXL Mountain Bike wheels
"XXX Rated"
Products from Bontrager don't attain 'XXX' rating easily; do they Keith? They are Best-in-Class products or they simply won't make the grade. One of these standout products was at Trek World this year, brilliant new wheels from Bontrager.
They're now in Australia and one happy M1 Cycles customer, who wants a racing edge, has had his new hoops delivered. We threw them on the scales and had a chance to ogle them before he picked them up.
Seriously Sexy and Light.
You want to be the Fastest you can be, get on these wheels!!

The Fjords
Deep in Norway's Sunnmøre fjords is the small village of Fjørå. Over the centuries, local farmers have cleared trails up and down the steep mountainsides. Today, those trails challenge technical mountain bikers who descend to the rocky shore from 1100 metres over sea level

The Epic Continues.....
So it's now Tuesday, two days after the Epic and still the stories continue to be told. It does appear however that the "Fish" stories just keep getting bigger and bigger as the days go on... perhaps a bit of delusion is setting in?
