Quote Of The Day
So the Dirty Rats in M1 Land are all scurrying around at the moment organising teams for the 8hr MTB race that's coming up next month in Rocky......
It appears that in all of this "scurrying" the truth is getting in the way of a good story - here's an extract from an email I intercepted between Zulu, Hef and Dark Horse.....
DON'T WORRY IF YOU'RE NOT FIT..... NEITHER ARE WE
OH PLEASSSSSSSEEEEEEE - That's the biggest load of M1 Dung I've heard all year! Hef just finished 17th out of 85 at the Hiddenvale 4hr and Zulu - well, we all know Zulu's form - just read the previous post!!!!
Mind you, Hef may want to stop rolling around on the ground during training sessions.....

The MTB 3 Hour
In case you've been living under a rock in M1 MTB land, the 3 hour twilight is on at Seeonee Park on Saturday 27th October.
The race kicks off at 4pm..... who's in???? I am - and I promise not to lay down for a nap on the track like I did this morning!

The Race Review with Mick Newell Sat 30/06
With a dose of the Man Flu, I went to Rocky where 14 Riders, combined A and B grade, set out for The Caves 60km road race.
At the halfway point, all riders were still in one bunch. I hit the first climb on the way back out pretty hard and popped 8 riders off the back leaving M1 Cycles with Ada, Dylan, yours truly, and Brad in the break. Jay Callaghan was our biggest threat. The 5 of us worked well {Hicksy just hung on for dear life.} We turned for the last 15, Grainfed must have decided he couldn't risk being beaten by us old fellas, started calling "in" at regular intervals. Another lesson perhaps...............
Dylan was a tireless work horse but a flattie 5km out finished his race. That lad has a big heart, big talent and a great attitude, a pleasure to ride with him. I was suffering with the flu and looked after myself, missing the odd turn, Ada is getting stronger he is a solid worker. Jay was pushing us a long at a pretty hot pace as we pulled away from the organised chase. The bunch of 5 hit the last 300 metres with Grainfed out of position and on the front, in normal fashion he put on a massive effort but couldn't pull away, we passed him and in the end I managed to line scab a win from Jay Callaghan. A good hitout. And a tough course!

This is an out and back circuit you do twice. Things were pretty steady on the out, averaged about 43kp/h for the first 15 km with Grainfed hitting the wind a bit, riding like a man possessed and then returning to the bunch to hide for a while. The Byfield Bushie
Trees and podium positions were
not safe at the Byfield MTB race Sunday. Top spot with a convincing win was Chris Carter. One man named Hef was also responsible for taking out both; ie. taking on a Hefty tree and 3rd spot on the podium.
There were quite a few M1 jerseys circulating on a tough little circuit in the pine forests of Byfield. Zulu is getting the hang of this off road stuff, and he and Ada spent most of the 3 lap race within sight of each other.
Smurfles kept it upright and rode well. Blog Mistress made a welcome return to racing knobby tyres. Sneaky Pete rode sweep for the day making sure nobody was left on the course after each lap.
Much fun was had by all, so if you want to join in keep an ear out for all the M1 happenings and come along; next Rocky Dirt Clowns event is 15th July.

The Rocky Roadie
A drive up to the Caves Scratch race on Saturday paid off with some good performances from Gladstone riders at Rocky Cycle Club road race.
A Grade saw a 1-2 for Brad 'Grainfed' Lawlor and Mick Newell respectively after working hard in a 5 man breakaway. Proving M1 riders are superiorly trained against the fancied Rocky riders. Not to forget Ada Lohmann in 5th and Spycat in eight overall.
Great work by all.
