The Sunday Sessions

Well the Sunday roadie ride started out exactly the same as the Saturday morning ride - a flattie within 1k of leaving the start.  Snapper thought he was at the Nitro Circus try outs and was jumping all over the road to avoid the hole.... or maybe he was just  being mindful of his nice new steed and didn't want any first week bingles?? 

Croz was in charge of the flat tyre change - no instructions needed today Caro!  Might I say though that I think the instructions are a mighty good idea for newbie riders (and those that don't ride with their own mechanics) however, you may want to leave out the "squeal like a girl" part when you use the gas cylinder - that was a little embarrassing Croz!!

Unfortunately for us, there was no coffee shop to pull up at in Goondoon Street at 5:30am so we had to change the flat and ride on.  I can honestly tell you that I was looking around pretty darn hard for that coffee shop too.

The Real Strava

According to SOME riders in the M1 Bunch - "If it's not on Strava, it didn't happen".  Well ok then Mr Anderson - it's now ON Strava for all the world to see.  Me beating you over the Quarry loop...... oh wait, it should be me THRASHING you on the Quarry loop - there you are all the way back in 6th place!

PS Mr Anderson - knowing how I ride a mountain bike, and knowing that you know how I ride a mountain bike due to your constant reminders about staying on the bike, I'd be embarrassed to be beaten by me on a MTB Strava section!  Just saying.

The Summer Sunday

It was a small, but "quality" bunch of riders that rolled out yesterday morning on the Sunday roadie ride - everyone even managed to have their knicks on the right way, which was a great start to the day!  

Frenchie was in heaven, thinking it was a lovely summer's day rolling along in just a summer jersey and giving us all a lesson in French at the coffee shop..... "Cul-De-Sac" will never have the same meaning ever again! 

The Dirty Rats lived up to their name, arriving at Craig's completely covered in mud, doing skin-fold fat tests and sporting one smashed phone screen and a broken derailleur - there's never a dull moment in the Rat Pack.

The 8:00am L Plate ride had a good turn out, complete with Mick B and Coach Carter making a prayer to the Trail Gods before the start - just kidding, they were just doing some stretching laying all over the grass.  The group split into two after a lap around Wendy's with the new riders staying on Wendy's for a lesson with Coach Carter and the not so new riders heading up for a lap around the Sunshine track - complete with an Over-The-Handlebar-Dismount by Zulu.... more coaching needed perhaps Zulu???

The Wellington Climb

A beautiful day on Sunday greeted us for the 20k climb up Mt Wellington in Tassie.  Making it to the top in 1hr 39mins, we literally felt on top of the world!

Oh, and I smashed the Hef to the top as well - just for the record!

The Batman Ride

Well, well, well, it looks like this Saturday's ride is going to be one of Good v Evil with Batman (Zulu) and Robin (Blogmistress) teaming up on the tandem to take on the M1 City nasties aka single bikes...

From what I've heard, all the usual M1 City crooks will be riding:
- The Joker (Hef), does he really need any introduction??
- The Riddler (Mr Anderson), sorry Ando - but you do actually look and behave like the Riddler.
- Bain (LG), the pure grunt of the single bike pack.
- Catwoman (um, SpyCat of course), no explanation needed!
- The Penguin (The Pied Piper), there are some definite physical similarities here.....
- Mr Freeze (Snapper), beware of the frosty glaze of Mr Freeze.
- Poison Ivy (Skeeta), hmmm, gotta watch this one, she's fiesty.

Will Good overcome Evil on Saturday morning??? Will the tandem completely SMASH the single bikes??? Me thinks so!

The Kroombit Rat Ride

The Dirty Rat expedition up to Kroombit Tops on the weekend was - PERFECT.  Perfect weather, perfect company, perfect wine, perfect food.... oh and of course perfect riding!

There was no better way to describe it!

The Love Is Ride

Ok you Mere Males in M1 Land, listen up.  Remember the little cartoons "Love is.....", well this morning's ride was a clear indication that Hef, Snapper and Mr Anderson all need to be reaquainted with the Love is theory.  Let me explain....

Mr Anderson.  Love is NOT.... 'deliberately stalking down your wife on Haddock Drive and passing her 10 metres before the top'. 

Snapper.  Love is NOT.... 'catching your wife just before the railway line with about 500m to go before the coffee shoop'.

And Hef.  Love is DEFINATELY NOT..... 'sprinting against your wife as you come into the final corner 100m before the coffee shop to take victory for the boys'.

It's probably a good thing that LG wasn't on the ride this morning as I'm sure he would have been influenced by the other Mere Males in the pack!

And "Enforcer", you took Kitty Soft Paw Ride to a new low this morning when you turned on Jim Whyte and missed Haddock altogether.  Tsk Tsk.

The Timbertowns Escape Marathon

First it was a race, at 100km and 50km, then it was shortened to 90km and 38km, then it became an organised off-road ride. Now it has been CANCELLED.

Yah!  It's finally getting warmer - mind you, I'm now starting to notice the magpies lurking in the trees beside the roads so it's not gonna be long for them to be warmed up either!

With Hef having heard of the Zulu and Smurfles ekky mountain bike k's, Hef was a man on a mission on Sunday, deciding that we should head to Kroombit tops and ride out to Old Betsy. 

The Long Grass Ride

Ok, so the Blogmistress may have been at home yesterday having a catnap with her best mate Andy, but she was up before the sun this morning carving up some dust on the tracks the boys were on yesterday.  Oh, and a big shout out to Diesel for ride of the day yesterday - all I heard was how Diesel was smoking Hef up the hills!

Can I just say that you boys seriously need to do some track housekeeping and get out there with your whippersnippers and cut some of that damn grass!!!  It's hard enough to see in the dark as it is, let alone when you're getting "grass-slapped" across the face by wet blades of bush grass!

Seriously, if you could do that, I'd appreciate it greatly.... I am a girl you know.
